Internal Grants
The central university administration generously supports faculty in their roles as scholars and researchers, teachers, and service providers. Funds are available through five grant programs that provide funding for travel to present research, development to attend conferences, research initiatives, international collaboration, and public service projects. OSP administers these grant programs, providing technical support and receiving applications. All applications are peer-reviewed by committees comprised of faculty members.
All internal grant applications must be submitted electronically. Hard copies will NOT be accepted under any circumstances. While signatures are not required on electronic applications, the proposal must be forwarded to your departmental chairperson for approval. The chairperson will then forward the application to your dean’s office.
OSP will only accept applications from dean’s or their designees. Applicants should make all efforts to submit their application in one document. Proposals must be received electronically by the Office of Sponsored Programs by 4:45 PM on the day of the deadline at:
Via e-mail, OSP will send notification to all applicants confirming receipt of grant applications. If you do not receive such notification within a few days of the grant deadline, please contact OSP as soon as possible.
Senate Grants for Research and Scholarship
2013 Senate Research Funding Deadline: November 7, 2012

Application: Senate Grants for Research and Scholarship
Senate Grants for Research and Scholarship provide funding support for research and other scholarly activities conducted by faculty members. There are NEW GUIDELINES for the Senate Research Program beginning with the 2012 funding cycle including:
—Increased budget limits.
—Applicants must seek funding for either a Scholarship Grant or a Seed Grant.
—Additional funding is now available for applicants to present, publish, or exhibit research award results.
—Matching funds from colleges and/or external sources are now allowed.
—The new application form must be used for the 2012 deadline or the application will not be reviewed by the committee.

Application: Grants for Public Service
Public Service Grants are designed to stimulate and support public service projects that benefit the citizens of West Virginia and are conducted by members of the Faculty Assembly and other full-time regular employees. Funding from this program is intended to encourage development of additional support for these projects from other sources in the future.

Application: Faculty Travel Application
Faculty Travel Grants provide funding support for faculty members to travel and present or perform scholarly or artistic works. Only one application will be funded for any individual during a given program year through this program. This program will not fund activities such as chairing panels, organizing professional events, fulfilling association obligations, or students presenting research on behalf of a faculty member. NOTE: All expenditures for applications to the Faculty Travel April 2, 2013 deadline must be made and processed by June 30, 2013.

Application: Faculty Development Grant
Faculty Development Grants provide funding to support faculty members participation in activities that lead to professional growth such as attending workshops and seminars, organizing lectures for WVU faculty, and travel to libraries to conduct research.. Faculty are eligible to apply for funding from this program multiple times with strong justification. This program will not support presentations at meetings (see Faculty Travel), panel presentations, or faculty members organizing lectures that primarily benefit students. NOTE: All expenditures for applications to the Faculty Development Grant May 7, 2013 deadline must be made and processed before June 30, 2013.

Application: International Grant Program
International Grants provide funding to support activities that foster international collaboration in the areas of research, curriculum development, and outreach. This program does not fund short-term lecturing (see Faculty Travel) or travel to international conferences (see Faculty Development). NOTE: All expenditures for applications to the International Grant May 7, 2013 deadline must be made and processed before June 30, 2013.
