On July 1, 2013, the Office of Sponsored Programs began using the WVU+kc electronic research administration system to record the submission of proposals, link funded proposals to subsequent awards, record award information, and generate electronic notices of award (green sheets).

As a result of the new functionality provided by WVU+kc, for the first time ever, the WVU Research Office is now able to track funded proposal success rates. WVU+kc also provides customers the ability to run real time reports for departmental and/or college research stats by utilizing the WVU KC Awards link located on the main Researcher page; however, detailed award information will only be viewable by the investigators, departmental chairs, deans, and EBOs who have the appropriate permissions to view the award. Additional reporting features have also been made available to the staff of OSP and the Office of Research Integrity and Compliance (ORIC) to assist in the administration of awards and protocols. For more information about the award reporting tool available, view the Award Reports quick reference guide.

WVU+kc Award Initiation module customers should have noticed a recent improvement in system performance. On August 28, the WVU+kc project team implemented updates that have enhanced system operations. IRB module customers, especially ORIC administrators and IRB members, have seen the most impact, in many cases, cutting their system interaction times in half. With support from the Kuali Foundation community, the WVU+kc project team is continuing to focus on refining system performance and anticipates implementing more improvements in early October. Additionally, the project team is currently working to upgrade the system to the most recent Kuali Coeus version, which will provide additional functionality and further increase system performance across all WVU+kc modules. Once this upgrade has been successfully deployed, the Proposal Development module will then be implemented on a college-by-college basis beginning in 2014.
