WVU researchers now have access to a University version of software that helps create Data Management Plans (DMPs), DMPTool. WVU Libraries, the Research Office and college research support offices are making this service available to strengthen research data compliance requirements and to help meet newly established funder guidance issued in the August 2022 OSTP Memo.
This web-based software helps researchers create DMPs by providing WVU custom guidance and text, general information about WVU resources, and an optional review of the plans. The DMPTool also includes updated funder requirements with 41 publicly available templates. Some funders, such as the National Science Foundation, will begin to require a digital or machine-readable/actionable DMP, which the DMPTool generates.
To use the University version of the tool, researchers should create an account and use their WVU login credentials for access.
The WVU Libraries provide guidance, technical support, and training for DMPTool.
