SLIC software purchases will now require DSN code instead of Research, State POETAs

The Software Licensing Information Center (SLIC) is now requesting DSNs for payment of software purchases instead of State and Research POETAs. This change will speed up both the reconciliation of payments and the distribution of software. Please note that SLIC will continue to accept General Ledger Strings.

After you request software, you will receive detailed instructions on how to acquire your DSN with an invoice. This new DSN will let us process payments in the Pinnacle system.

Currently, State and Research Corp. purchases rely on POETAs (an acronym for Project, Organization, Expenditure Type, Task, Award). POETAs contain alphabetical characters that Pinnacle can’t process. The DSN is strictly numerical. Procurement will set up DSNs for departments, matching those to the previously used POETAs in MAP.

Some departments may already have DSNs for telephone or postage charges; however, new ones must be created for software purchases.

Information Technology Services appreciates your patience with this change. Please direct any questions to software@mail.wvu.edu.
